The study identified a specific fungus and two bacteria that may play a key role in Crohn’s disease development. This study is distinct because it compared Crohn’s patients to both healthy strangers and to family members with no history of the disease. Researchers may be able to use these new, but early findings to develop better treatments for Crohn’s disease.
