If you have a dairy intolerance, which the National Institutes of Health (NIH) explains as “causing digestive symptoms—such as bloating, diarrhea, and gas—after eating or drinking milk or milk products,” you lack the digestive enzyme (lactase) to properly break down dairy sugars.
